Richard Branson's Virgin Comics have announced the November launch of a brand new Dan Dare comic. The full colour US-format comic will be written by top comics creators Garth Ennis and drawn by Gary Erskine. Virgin's news that Dan Dare is "back" is a little disingenuous as it seems to ignore the excellent thrice-a-year Spaceship Away comic which has been featuring brand new Dan Dare adventures for the past several years (and hopefully will continue to do so).
I'm automatically sold because it's Garth Ennis. The cover image shown makes it look very old-school boys adventure, which should be interesting to see him try (i.e. no uber-violence and swearing).
