Sylvia Anderson 1927 - 2016

This image from the Sylvia Anderson website.
A sad day for those of us who grew up on the classic Supermarionation series such as Stingray and Thunderbirds as the news broke this morning that Sylvia Anderson had passed away.
Sylvia's autobiography, 1991.

Not only a marvelous voice artist (Venus in Fireball XL5 and Lady Penelope in Thunderbirds to name but two) Sylvia Anderson was also a talented writer and co-producer of the shows, involved in character development and costume design. She made a distinctive and positive contribution to those TV series, and indeed to the childhoods of those of us who watched them.
From the TV21 INTERNATIONAL EXTRA (1965).

  1. She was definitely an innovator and a creative force in the character development in all the Anderson productions. She will always be Lady Penelope! I bet Parker will be having a stiff drink tonight as he bids M'lady a final goodbye.

    Who can forget that countdown? 5 4 3 2 1.....THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!!

    Ken.
