Troll in town!

Copies of my Derek the Troll comic are now on sale at Nostalgia and Comics, 14 - 16 Smallbrook Queensway, Birmingham B5 4EN. My thanks to Dave and the gang for stocking them.

Derek the Troll/Rock Solid No.1 is a 32 page comic that collects all the Derek the Troll and Rock Solid, Space Hero strips that I did back in the mid-1980s! Some of my earliest published work. It retails for £3.50.

If you can't make it to Birmingham but want a copy, you can order it directly from me at my online shop:

  1. It's good to see your Self print comics are selling pretty well, if only so it means more ones are done ^_^

Next year should be pretty fun. Since they seam to be doing okay, I hope they are at least making enough to make it worth printing more.. I wonder where my father put his issues of Yampy Tales ^_^

  2. Your dad read Yampy Tales? That makes me feel old. Ha! :-)

Yes, they're selling well. 25% of the print run of Derek the Troll has sold in a week. Obviously things will slow down after the initial rush but I'm very happy with that. I still have copies to take to conventions, which is good. Next year I'll be doing the first issues of Combat Colin Classics and Suburban Satanists, all being well, as they celebrate their respective 40th and 20th anniversaries since their first appearances.

  3. Sorry, I meant 30th anniversary of Combat Colin, not 40th! Blimey! I haven't been in comics that long. :)

  4. and yep, and I did too so you don't need to feel quite as old ^_^

it's good that it's doing well. I guess it also helps up with things as the Beano work has dried up for the moment.

  5. Financially it doesn't even come close to the Beano work I've suddenly lost, as Derek the Troll is only a one off. So I still need a new regular strip to make up for the lost income.

  6. yeah, It was more a comment that it 'helps' more then replaces but yep, it's one of the main downsides of a freelancer.
