  1. Hello Sir!

Hoping you can help me out! I'm a fan from the other side of the pond, here in Chicago. I've always had a profound love of the UK annuals, whether Fleetway or D.C. Thompson. I have some Scottish blood in the family tree: my great grandmother, from Dundee, around 1915. Due to that sole UK / Scottish connection (as far as I know) we used to be gifted the D.C. Thompson annuals in the 1960s and 1970s. My siblings and I loved them! Who couldn't help loving Beano, Dandy, Dennis, Sparky, Beezer, etc.???

I've carried on the tradition and my kids, as well as nieces and nephews, love them too!

My question is is there original art from these books available? Is so, how do I find it? I checked eBay UK and found nothing, under obvious searches like "Beano original art" or "D.C. Thompson Original Art." Does it exist? (It wasn't destroyed?) If so, how would I search for it?

Thanks much! And have a great day!

  2. There's no P in D.C. Thomson so that might help, but I doubt you'll find any. I'm afraid Thomsons are strict about holding onto their artwork and it's extremely rare to see any up for sale. It's all under lock and key up in Scotland.
