My first self-published item for 2019 is The Blank! and it's available to purchase from me today via PayPal. Here's the PR for it...
Welcome dear readers to the world of THE BLANK! The latest publication from Lew Stringer Comics! Consisting of 20 pages of cheapest quality 80gsm white paper held together by two staples, THE BLANK does what it says on the tin, - the pages are BLANK!
The concept is this, eager readers; as you turn the pages you use your IMAGINATION to PRETEND what stories it may contain… had it been a printed comic. Perhaps it could be a Western? A tongue-in-cheek farce? A hard-hitting crime thriller? A superhero blockbuster? Or a slice-of-life tale of two people in a gentrified coffee shop complaining about their lives whilst not appreciating how over-privileged they actually are? It's entirely up to you! YOU are in control as the story develops inside your own head!
Real blank pages! |
Unlike similar concepts, dear readers, I would NOT advise that you draw your own comics on its pages. The paper is simply too cheap and flimsy, and ink is likely to show through the other side. And don’t even get me started on what might happen if you used a sharp pencil. No, the purpose of THE BLANK! is for you to look at the blank pages and imagine the story in your mind. JUST IMAGINE… every time you open the pages of THE BLANK! you could dream up a DIFFERENT story! The concept has NO LIMITS, even though your imagination might. But just keep it clean, ok?
Metal staples! |
THE BLANK! - the publication that is MENTALLY INTERACTIVE, and as wild as your own imaginations!
UPDATE: As you all guessed, this post was an April Fool! Thanks for playing along. Hope it raised a smile.
They sell something similar over here in the US in art stores.
ReplyDeleteAh, but those you mention are for people to draw on. THE BLANK isn't intended for that. With THE BLANK you just imagine what the pages might contain as you turn each page. No pens or pencils required.
ReplyDeleteYour work has got so detailed and clever...its like a 30's comic in my imagination...
ReplyDeleteThat detailed? I should charge more for each issue in that case. 😄
ReplyDeleteNow this is exactly the comic I've been yearning for for years! Just like the ones I used to read when I was a kid! I'll have a dozen : one for each month of the year... in effect, a subscription. Will they be available for the long-term so I can renew my "subscription" next year, or are they only available today? 😜
ReplyDelete(Okay, I'll be honest and shatter my delusions of being savvy... I was halfway through the article before I twigged! 😳
Off track a bit but to do with blank pages....footballer from the 1940/50s Len Shackleton's autobiography had a chapter entitled 'What Club Chairmen Know About Football' which was left as a blank page.
ReplyDeleteDisgusting!
