The Fan Club returns!

The Dennis the Menace Fan Club was a very popular thing decades ago, with its black wallet and two distinctive badges that Beano readers could send away for. Well, now it's back for the comic's 80th anniversary, with a more modern look as the Dennis and Gnasher Fan Club

The two badges remain, and although the Dennis one shows the modern Dennis, the Gnasher one is still hairy and boggle eyed.

You can find out all about the pack at this link:

Really cool to see that they provide a way to join for free, with printable certificate and badges.

Unfortunately it hasn't stopped people moaning that the old pack was 45p and the new one FORTY TWO YEARS LATER is £9.99. :D

You just know these people complain about the cost of the comic itself, even though it's a bargain! See also: stamps, milk etc. I bet they're a joy at parties.

It is overpriced, even allowing for inflation. For £15 more you can get a reproduction of the original version PLUS the 80th anniversary special and all the other goodies. Put it into perspective : it's the same price as the Classic Beano And Dandy book that comes out every year.

The price includes p&p so that's about £2, then they have to make a profit (it is a business after all). If you click on the link though Kevin you'll see there is a totally free version you can get by printing out a certificate and badges.

Plus it also covers extra features in their app for the kids including exclusive videos etc. While none of these may appeal to us adults, this is a kid's comic. The fact the comic itself can also appeal to adults is a nice bonus of course, but they're the target audience. Videos, digital features and the additions to the app all cost money to produce and this is a one-off payment for years of new content for them. Plus, as Lew says, on top of all that they have to turn a profit.

Good points well made, Phil!
