The Mighty World of Marvel Vol.6 No.1 goes on sale on Thursday 20th October, with a 100 page premiere issue. A new line up is introduced with the start of three serials: Doctor Strange, Black Widow, and Ms.Marvel, reprinting recent material from America.
As with the other relaunches in the Marvel Collectors' edition line, MWOM No.1 will have 100 pages, before settling back to its regular 76 page format with issue 2. Priced at just £3.99, this is a bargain indeed.
The final issue in the current run of Mighty World of Marvel (shown below) goes on sale today, wrapping up the Daredevil and S.H.I.E.L.D. stories, and featuring a classic Dr.Strange short by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

I cannot wait. It'll be nice to have some Dr. Strange material on a regular basis. MWOM certainly knows how to market things well, to tie in with what is on at the cinema or on TV. Whereas some reprint titles cash in and then disappear (i.e. the UK Supergirl comic), Panini knows what to do.
So I shall enjoy this. Meanwhile, the UK Batman Rebirth title is nowhere to be found, WHSmith claim they cannot order it for me and you cannot buy a single issue (yet) from Titan. Oh, and Titan continue to have poor editing, their "next issue" inside cover pages are often erroneous and their Facebook page is often filled with comments from folk wondering if titles have been cancelled/when a title is out/etc.
Such a contrast between Panini and Titan.
I can't help thinking that the reason Titan's Batman has now gone bi-monthly is because of sales affected by many branches of Smiths not stocking it. Titan are aware of this problem but nothing seems to change.
Maybe WHSmith don't see the problem? They look up Batman in their system, Gotham Central comes up, and they don't realize that's not the same title?
I'm not surprised MWOM picked Ms. Marvel. Her book outsells Captain Marvel, so she did way better than Marvel expected. Plus it might encourage Avengers Universe readers to pick it up.
I've never known a title so elusive. I can't subscribe as I'd rather check out at least two issues before doing that. I can't order just that issue as Titan doesn't have the facility for that. And no shop I am trying in can get it.
Can't help but think someone, either at Titan or WHSmith, has a solution.
Volume 6! How many MWOMs have Panini published (which I assume starts with Volume 3)? Great to see this flagship title promoting all that is good about the Marvel Universe.
Speaking of Batman, bye bye Gotham Central.

Thanks for the info, James. I'm not that surprised. The frequency (every 6 or 8 weeks, I forget) was no incentive to hook readers. Who has time to remember what happened in a comic of 8 weeks ago?
