Blog Break

Blogging is time consuming. Even an intended quick review of a comic can take an hour or more from scanning, writing the first draft to publishing online. A more detailed blog can take up to half a day or a full evening. Or maybe that's just me.

Anyway, in order to catch up with some work I've fallen behind on through various setbacks (illness, being my Mum's carer etc) I'm putting this blog on hold for a few weeks. Don't worry, it won't be in mothballs for long, and I'll be back soon with some items of free gifts of the past, Christmas strips, and long-overdue reviews of some great small press comics that have been kindly sent to me.

So it really is a case of "back to the drawing board" for now. In the meantime, if you haven't checked out the blogs of friends and acquaintances on the list at the left of this page now is the time to do so. Lots of good stuff there to keep you occupied for ages!

Check back here again in a few weeks and hopefully I'll have a few new items posted by then!

(Photo above shows the pencil stage of a Super School page I did for The Beano. The completed artwork was published a few weeks ago.)

I also find it hard to keep the blog machine going...caught up recently by doing a daily blog for a while after a breather while I am drawing and making cards supporting my Wife in a new job...

Hope you get a bit of breather has a carer for your Mum to break up the day...

I hope when you do come back that you can still do a post on fireworks comics again..just love your previous posts on that..anyway look forward to reading more Super School and the new one at Christmas..loved last years one with the poster panel..

All the best to you..

Thanks Peter. I haven't received a Christmas Super School script yet so I'm not sure if it'll be in this year's festive issue. I've done a Christmassy Team Toxic strip for Toxic though.

Hey Lew,

I'm surprised you didn't title this entry "GREAT NEWS FOR ALL READERS INSIDE!" - that was usually the sign that my favourite UK comic was about to disappear!

That aside, have a well-deserved blogging break. I'll be back here whenever you post, and I always appreciate all the hard work and research you put into your seemingly effortless entries.

Best,

- Rik

A break from blogging might give you back some time. :) Or perhaps you can adjust the expectations . . e.g. 1 post per week (or fortnight) etc. so it's something you can fit into your lifestyle?

That would mean that Lew's blog was going to be merged with another one!

Lew! I'm disappointed. Where is your traditional BONFIRE NIGHT posting?? The PC crowd have thwarted the comics of today, don't tell me they got to your BLOG too?

Lew Stringer said...

As I said Simon, I'm taking time off from the blog to focus on work and other things.

It's pretty common to take some time in and time out from our passions or hobbies, to concnetrate on more important things in life. So, you aren't alone in there, mate.

Enjoy your break, and do come back when you find enough time to share your relics with us. :)
