That's truly zarjaz, Lew! I am trying hard to remember if I twigged the reference or not in 1987. I certainly knew who Lew Stringer was via the fanzines that I used to subscribe to and buy back in the day. I seem to recall your being a regular in the letters pages. Do you still have those fanzines? Mine are long gone, I'm sorry to say.
I kept all the fanzines that I contributed art and articles to, John. I don't think I kept every one I had a letter in. I'm sure some of my opinions back then when I was in my twenties would make me cringe today.

Thank you Lew and David for the link. Some amazing stuff there. How wonderful to see Bemusing/Bem, Comic Media News, The Owl's Effort et al once again. Also lurking in there is a copy of Cerebro # 2 where I made my contribution to the X-Men universe writing a little story about Nightcrawler and Wolverine. Years since I have seen it. Unbelievably not very good but the beauty of those times is that it was all so new and so fannish that anyone could have a go at writing or producing art. I was in my mid-teens and it was the best time to buy fanzines and read comics. Your site is excellent, David. And so is yours , of course, Lew!
Thanks, John. They heyday of fanzines was indeed a good time. I was in my late teens/early 20s when I was buying loads of them too. A real voyage of discovery.
